Noah's First Hotel Trip

As anyone who is reading this knows, we are without power since 3 am friday, and am writing this from the Radnor Hotel in Wayne. It has been raining and blowing nonstop for at least 24 hours, remnants of hurricaine Ernesto. We were all up at 3 am when we saw a huge white light like lightening...then all of the sudden everything was dark...inside and out. turns out a tree across the street fell and brought down the wires, and all of our electricity went out. For us, no electricity means no water among other things.... so late morning we got our things together and went to Radnor Valley for breakfast/lunch. The weather was miserable and we were the only ones there (with 12 wait staff). From there Noah had his first trip to the mall! The weather was terrible and as you can imagine the mall was mobbed, but we kept him away from crowds, and went looking for furniture...Ethan Allen, Thomasville, and ultimately found a great little crib-side table at Pottery Barn Kids.

We carried Noah in his car seat all around since we have yet to unpack his stroller from the box. So as soon as we got home, David (arm aching from carrying the car seat) pulled the stroller out of the box. No tools, but lots of parts. The directions had 44 separate steps to put it together! But David put it together in the time it took Kathy to feed Noah. From there we pulled out Noah's new table, and like EVERYTHING else, this had to be put together! Bless electric screwdrivers! But it looks great in his room.....

Doesn't look like the electric company is going to fix the wires anytime soon. the house was getting dark, chilled, no water ,food, etc.., so we decided to get a room at the Radnor Hotel. So here we are, and Noah is loving it. The room is ok, and we're just showering, changing diapers and putting on makeup (not all of us are doing all of these things!) and going to go out to dinner. It's an adventure! Most of the clothes in the suitcase belong to the baby...blankets, jammies, onsies, diapers, more diapers....we're prepared for anything. And he can't wait to sleep in his crib (we brought our own sheets, pads, etc....!)

Even with all this adventure, Noah had no trouble with naps today (alot of you are probably jealous!)

So all in all, the little guy is happy, healthy (did we tell you that overnight he outgrew is Newborn diapers?!? amazing!), and despite no electricity was lucky enough to find time to cuddle with mommy!

Well, that's our adventure so far. Hopefully we can get back home tomorrow, and will have lots more to write. We'll be in touch soon....

Pick The Cutest Picture Contest

This is an "audience participation" blog. We'd like you to pick the cutest picture of Noah (left or right), and either answer by email (david.porter@uphs.upenn.edu or kduffy@gene.com) or by posting a comment on the blog. Please be aware that this might be a trick question however!

7 pounds (almost) and growing!

Hi all...we're back! still not hooked up completely, but David fixed our desktop computer. He removed the mother board, adjusted the frikastat and re-wired the catheride. Peter couldn't have done it better! The lap top is still out of commission, and that's where most of the photo's are.... but here we are.

We went back to the doctor today. Noah had a funny little rash on his back that we asked them to look at. The doctor said it was nothing, but may be another birthmark. Noah got back on the scale though, and his weight is up to 6 lbs, 15.8 oz! (almost 7 lbs!). That's almost 2 oz weight gain a day during the past week, and the doctor would have been happy with 0.5-1 oz! Mommy and Noah have been spending plenty of time together and it's all paying off.....

Noah's nursery is taking shape. He wants you all to see what he did with it.

It would be better if you'd come see it in person though....it's even cuter when you're here.

Had another bath yesterday, and he seems to be having fun with the warm water. Need to make sure he doesn't poop or pee in the bath, right? After the bath his umbilical cord fell off, so now he can have a real tubby soon......we asked him to wave "hi" to everyone, and this is what we got.............

Good night for now....we'll keep posting periodically when we have news for you. Love, Noah and family......

August 27

We lost 2 computers today. Our desk top just stopped working. We had a big storm last night, and although it is on a surge protector, we fear either the storm or age and time have taken its toll. In addition, David's laptop, where this blog has been created and our pictures downloaded, has a broken screen. Kathy hooked up the laptop without a screen to the desk top monitor and we are functioning at least for the time being. Entries may be limited as we either fix or replace one or both computers.

But no one reading this really cares about our problems, so back to Noah. He had company all weekend with his Nanny and Poppy visiting. Noah has become a regular at Radnor Valley, and was back there today for brunch. Tonight, we had a new one: he pee'd not on his mommy or daddy, but all over the wall next to his changing table....he was covered up with a wipe and everything, but managed to squirt right around the side! There has to be some trick to this that we're missing, but......we'll figure it out.

Max would say Noah was just "chillin" in this picture!

In this picture, Noah is wearing his new cowboy longjohns and wrestling cows!

Tomorrow, David goes back to work. Kathy will be home with Noah, we'll both be trying to fix our computers, and will continue to keep up the blog when we can. Noah says good night, and sends love and kisses to all..........
