Thoughts at 3:42 am 8/16

Welcome to our blog. We are not and won't be the kind of parents that have to share every milestone with the world, but it's really late, we haven't slept for 2 days, Noah is crying, and David had this idea to start a blog. He doesn't really know what a blog is, but will figure it out. Those of you reading this probably really care that Kathy finally passed gas, that Noah opened his eyes, has had 3 poopy diapers (I'm told that's a good thing...how can that be a good thing--they just need to be changed!), and will be interested in random thoughts from the middle of the night. Poopy is a great word, isn't it?
It's Noah's day 2. We're in a new hospital room, Room 821 which we take as good omen since 821 is the same as our street address.
Noah was born a few weeks early. But around 8 pm tonight all of the sudden he began opening his eyes (we hadn't really seen them yet). Nursing has been a little issue. He hasn't quite been able to "suck" just right, so feeding has been a problem. But wouldn't you know that tonight at 1:30 AM all of the sudden he seemed to learn how to suck....and to cry! In fact he is crying loud. For the first 24 hrs, he didn't seems to know if he was being held or lying back. He likes to be held by both mommy and daddy--that's been keeping him quiet tonight! But not conducive for sleep. Kathy's amazing. 1 day after surgery, up, changing diapers, and playing with Noah. David still isn't happy about poopy diapers but is really into swaddling. Everyone should be swaddled. That's another great word.
Had a little toast to the new guy tonight...i brought a bottle of 30 year old Ballentine (from grandpa Max), a waterford highball glass, and sat in the hospital room and had a drink. That bottle is saved for really special occasions. I will look forward to sharing it with anyone who cares how many poopy diapers we change!
The nurse just took Noah for blood tests (PKU, etc...), vital signs, etc....
Kathy just blurted out loud that she wants a bacon, egg, and cheese. Somethings never change.
This is our first posting. We will keep all up to date.
